Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy is the term used to describe any physiotherapy treatment that uses electricity for treatment including Ultrasound and Interferential.

Ultrasound treatment is used to; increase the blood flow, helping increase the speed of healing, it also helps to decrease swelling and inflammation and give gentle massage to the underlying muscles and ligaments.

Interferential has a similar affect to ultrasound, it helps to; relieve pain, stimulate muscles, increase blood flow and reduce swelling.

Electrotherapy can be used to assist in treatment of many different conditions.

At Callahan Physiotherapy this form of treatment is used as an adjunct to other forms of treatment such as massage, dry needling, education and exercise advice to help achieve an overall positive outcome.
