Telehealth is a new form of healthcare that provides people living in rural and remote areas access to health professionals that are otherwise inaccessible.
Telehealth uses advancements in technology to provide one on one interactive assessment and treatment sessions along with information sharing and prescription
Physiotherapy historically is thought to be a hands on health profession, however this is only one part of the profession. What defines us as physio's is not what we can do with our hands but the knowledge that we can provide. Many of the hands on techniques we use can be done by yourself or the people around you. all they lack is the knowledge of how and why, that's where we can help, through a thorough assessment and extensive knowledge of human anatomy and movement patterns we can advise you on the best course of action including, exercises, self massage techniques and referral on to other health professionals if the problem is out of our realm.
We're not going to pretend that this is the best form of physiotherapy, no technology (at this stage) can substitute for a thorough one on one, hands on physical assessment with a physiotherapist. however if you live hours away from the nearest physio or can't get an appointment for 4 weeks then this is a great option.
most of the time all you needs is a little information, reassurance and guidance in the right direction and you'll be back on track in no time.
